Q. What's the track surface? A. Newly installed 200-meter Mondo Super X synthetic surface Q. Will starting blocks be provided? A. Yes Q. What kind of spikes can I wear? A. See Metro's home page or Metro Trip Planner Q. When does Metro open? A. Monday-Friday at 5 AM. Saturday, March 21, at 5 AM, by special arrangement from our sponsor Greater Washington Sports Alliance and SunTrust National Marathon. Sunday, March 22, at 7 AM. Q. From Union Station, how do I get to the Metro station closest to the track? A. From Union Station, allow 45 minutes to get to Morgan Boulevard Station (Red Line to Blue Line) or Landover Station (Red Line to Orange Line) -- as early as 5:45 AM on March 20-21 and 7:45 AM on March 22. Taxicabs surround Metro stations. Q. When does Metro close? A. Sunday-Thursday at 12 midnight; Friday-Saturday at 3 AM Q. Which host hotels have shuttles to the Sportsplex? A. Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and Radisson Q. Can I rent a car to get around? A. Yes. Q. If I'm driving, how do I get there? A. From I-495 (Capital Beltway), turn west on MD 202 (Landover Road). Turn left on Brightseat Road. From US 50, turn east on MD 202 and right on Brightseat Road. Pass Sheriff Road and turn right into Lot D. From Lot D to the Sportsplex is a short walk (about 200 meters). Parking is free. Q. Which host hotels have free breakfast? A. Both Comfort Inns, Hampton Inn, and Holiday Inn Express Q. When will the final schedule be posted? A. Now that online entries are closed, the USATF Games Committee takes over and fine-tunes the heat-by-heat schedule, USATF's standard practice. We expect the final schedule around March 10. Q. How did you manage to get so many athletes registered? A. One athlete at a time. Every athlete counts. Q. What is Potomac Valley Track Club? A. A club for all ages, all paces, and all ways. Founded almost 40 years ago, PVTC was the first club in the DC area to offer age-group prizes at its race. According to legend, PVTC founder Ed Barron invented age groups. For 40 years, PVTC has conducted indoor and outdoor track meets and distance races, including regional USATF Potomac Valley Association track championships and National Invitational Race Walk championships. We are fortunate to have as members many USATF officials and national-level competitors, including US and world record holders. The 2009 USA Masters Indoor Track & Field Championships is our indoor meet at the national scale. More than than 100 top officials from all over the country are serving this meet, as well as our own regional officials, and another 100 volunteers are assisting.
