2007 Ed Barron Holiday Series Championship

Potomac Valley Track Club concluded the 2007 Ed Barron Holiday Series Championship with the Christmas Caper on December 22, crowning 7 award winners in 6 competition categories.

Top scorer was club Secretary Jay Wind with a perfect 25 points in the Men 50-59 age group, ahead of Robert Weiner's 13 points.

Club President Craig Chasse topped the Men 30-39 age group with 19 points in just 4 events in the 5-event series.

Three runners won their age group with 15 points: Shirley Sameshima in Women 40-49, Ted Poulos in Men 40-49, and Jack McMahon in Men 70-79.

Roger Webb won the only Race Walk award, in Men 40 & over, needing the last event to meet the 3 event minimum participation standard. With several of the 29 total entrants competing in only one or two events, the club is looking to a 2008 series with more entrants qualifying for awards.

The 2008 Ed Barron Holiday Championship begins February 16 with the By George 5K and 10K run & race walk. You can pre-register for the 2008 series, and if you register for all five races, you get one event free -- five races for the price of four.
