Parents:
I have five prepared five-minute lectures:
October 2: Equipment
October 9 - Planning your training cycle
October 16 - Flexibility and physioligy
October 23 - Competitive Theory and Practice
October 30 - Pre-Hallowe'en Nutrition and Health
On the four Sundays in November and the first Sunday in December, we welcome any of the parents to present a prepared five-minute lecture on any topic that will help our young athletes. In past years, our parents have lectured on fascinating topics:
Posture and Balance
The Limits of Human Performance
The progression from young athlete to high school to college to national championships to International Competition to the Olympic Games
Allergies and how to avoid allergens when running
Schedule notes:
I shall be absent on November 6 to run New York City Marathon
I shall be tardy on November 20 because I direct a marathon in Carderock MD that morning startng at 8:00 AM, and somebody always takes 7 hours to finish.
On those days, Coaches Jim Darr and Betsy Peace will be in charge.
On a personal note, I run or volunteer at races every weekend. Feel free to ask me how I finished.
This Sunday morning, I shall run Army Ten Miler. I shall bring my finisher's medallion for how-and-tell
At all our workouts, we welcome parents to run with their young athletes. Think of it as Suzuki running!
We promote membership in Potomac Valley Track Club -- see www.pvtc.org/join
