In spite of a cold (20 degree) and blustery day, 103 runners and walkers came out to do the Christmas Caper at Hains Point. Thanks to Don Riggs, registrars and scorers Carla Convery, Kate DeAngeles, and Sharon Good had a minivan to get into while working the race. Bob Briggs and Don Riggs helped me lay out the course and unload equipment. Then Bob went home to play Santa Claus and Don went to start the 5K racers, while Sal Corrallo, who had intended to walk the race, and Roger Meyer went back to storage to locate the awards I had overlooked. Mil Wood and Lee Glassco showed up to stand out in the wind and act as sentrys at the intersections on the course. Valerie Meyer provided the hot line, the hot water, and the hot chocolate before racing the 10K. Toni Letaw and Norm Brand handed out the correct finish cards and directed traffic at the finish. Thanks to all who made the Caper a festive occasion. Due to a cold printer on the time machine, results of the 5K are approximate.
