The PVTC 8K Easter Classic race was held at Belle Haven Park, Alexandria on a beautiful Saturday morning the week after Easter. Sixteen runners, two carriage riders and four racewalkers (both of the ladies) came to contest for the 10-year age group Easter awards. No one under 30 years of age came. After threatening rain all week, the weather cooperated beautifully with sunshine and temperatures going into the 60's. The leaders at the finish had to discuss who would cross the line first but since they were in different age groups they both won gold.

Race director Rolland Elliott would like to thank those who willingly volunteered to perform the various tasks. We had Al and Gita Morris handling registration and timing. Bill Grogan and Larry Dickerson ran the water station and the stone bridge sentry duties. Lee Glasco monitored the road crossing at the park entrance, Kay Oertel handed out awards, Mil Wood timed the turnaround, and John Haubert was pressed into scoring. All helped with the setup and cleanup. Thanks to Victor Litwinski, Craig Chasse, Bob Briggs, and any I missed, for help with setup and cleanup and filling 3 spots in the race.
