'Twas the day before Christmas, and once more at dawn
36 runners assembled at morn
to run on the road to marina and back
and eat rum balls and cookies straight off the rack.
Joshua ran and won just like last year
with Karsten and Russell behind him quite near.
(Karsten came by night from faraway Front Royal,
but to running 50+ races, he is quite loyal.)
Laura led all the ladies, her pace good and kinder,
with Justine and her ponytail right behind her.
After the race, as we collected our toys,
even the firehouse showed off its new noise.
